Revitalize Your Smile at Woodbridge Hill Dental Practice
Dental crowns and bridges offer you options for replacing damaged and missing teeth. They improve your smile and your oral health so you can eat, talk and smile without worry.
At Woodbridge Hill Dental Practice we offer both crowns and bridges to patients who want to protect and replace teeth that are weakened or missing. With good care, a crown or bridge can last for many years.

What it is
What Is a Dental Crown?
A dental crown is a cap placed onto a weakened tooth to protect and restore it. If a tooth is chipped, fractured or damaged, a crown helps it match the rest of your smile and prevents further problems from developing.
Porcelain crowns can be made to match your smile so they don’t stand out. Options include all-porcelain crowns or porcelain bonded to a precious metal for added strength. Pure porcelain is best when you don’t grind your teeth.

Materials
Types of Dental Crowns
Several types of porcelain dental crown are made with different materials. Porcelain crowns have a natural look and are usually used for front teeth. Porcelain bonded to precious metal has a metal base with porcelain layered on top. Porcelain and composite crowns use a composite material for a natural look but aren’t as strong as metal-bonded options. Precious-metal crowns made from gold or palladium are best for back teeth where strength matters most.
Bridges
Dental Bridges
Dental bridges are designed to replace one or more missing teeth. They include one or more artificial teeth and are fixed in the mouth using the healthy teeth either side, or sometimes by attaching to dental implants. Unlike dentures, a bridge is fixed and you care for it as you do your other teeth.
A bridge is created by taking an impression of the teeth either side of the gap. Crowns are made for those teeth and joined together with an artificial tooth to fill the missing space.
Comparison
Dental Bridge vs Implant
Implants are a long-lasting alternative for missing teeth, with a titanium post placed in the jawbone. Bridges are typically more affordable and faster to complete, while implants offer a permanent tooth-replacement solution. We’ll help you choose the option that best suits your mouth, lifestyle and budget.
Cost
Dental Crown Costs
Private treatment for crowns ranges from £410 to £580, with partial crowns from £300. With our Care Plan, you only pay the lab bill — from £29 for partial crowns and from £38 for full crowns.
Process
How Dental Crowns Are Made
The tooth is first prepared so it’s the right shape to hold the crown. The outer surface is reduced so the core remains and a crown can be fitted over the top. An impression is sent to the dental lab, where the crown is made to match the colour of your existing teeth. A temporary crown is fitted while the permanent one is being made.
